ਮਾਛੀਵਾੜਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ, 25 ਜੂਨ -ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਆਗੂ ਤੇ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਸਹਿਕਾਰੀ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਨਵ-ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਡਾ. ਅਜੇ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਛੀਵਾੜਾ ਸਥਿਤ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ ‘ਚ ਖ਼ੁਦਕੁਸ਼ੀ ਕਰ ਲਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਜੇ ਦੋ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਸਹਿਕਾਰੀ ਸਭਾ ਦਾ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਡਾ. ਅਜੈਪਾਲ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਤਰਫ਼ੋਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਇੰਨੇ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਵਧਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਦੌਰ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
ਬੀਤੀ ਰਾਤ ਕਰੀਬ 10 ਵਜੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਆਏ ਤੇ ਖਾਣਾ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਮਰੇ ‘ਚ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਜੋ ਨਾਲ ਦੇ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਕਮਰੇ ‘ਚ ਧੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੁੱਤੀ ਪਈ ਸੀ ਨੇ ਡਾ. ਅਜੈਪਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਕਮਰੇ ਦੀ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕੁੰਡੀ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਕਮਰੇ ਦੀ ਖਿੜਕੀ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਝਾਤ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਡਾ. ਅਜੈਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਲਾਸ਼ ਪੱਖੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਟਕ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਚਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਬੰਦ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਤੋੜਿਆ ਤੇ ਪੱਖੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਟਕ ਰਹੀ ਲਾਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ। ਫ਼ਿਲਹਾਲ ਡਾ. ਅਜੈਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਿੱਲ ਦੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਦੇਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੋਸਟਮਾਰਟਮ ਲਈ ਸਮਰਾਲਾ ਸਿਵਲ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਡਾ. ਅਜੇਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਿੱਲ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਲੜਕਾ ਤੇ ਲੜਕੀ ਦੇ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
Sixty two-year-old Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker, Ajaypal Singh Gill, was found dead inside his Machhiwara residence in Ludhiana on Saturday, in what police termed was a case of alleged suicide.
As per reports, Gill had been elected the chairman of the Punjab State Cooperative Agricultural Development Bank, Machhiwara branch, two days ago.Police said that the man’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room on Saturday morning. The room was locked from the inside. According to reports, Gill had returned home around 9 pm on Friday night and gone straight to his room to sleep. His wife was in another room. On Saturday morning, when he did not come out, Gill’s wife went to check and found that the room was locked from the inside.
Sub-inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO of Machhiwara police station, said that Gill has three children—a son and two daughters. “One of his daughters, who is married in Pune, had come to meet her parents. She and her mother were sleeping in the second room. Gill allegedly hanged himself on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. His wife discovered the body on Saturday morning after he failed to come out at his usual time. No suicide note has been recovered till now,” said the SHO.Local AAP workers told police that Gill was happy after having won the polls for cooperative bank chairmanship two days ago and was even planning to throw a party for his friends. Even on Friday, he was busy holding meetings with local AAP workers and farmers.

In the 2022 Punjab Assembly polls, he worked really hard to ensure the party’s victory. The party had fielded him for cooperative bank chairmanship polls, which he won two days ago. His sudden death now has come as a shock for us,” said the MLA.Police said that the body was sent for autopsy and inquest proceedings initiated under Section 174 of CrPC.
