A 15-year-old boy allegedly strangulated an eight-year-old girl to death using a mobile charger cord after tying her legs and hands with shoelaces at Joggowal Jattan village under the Dhariwal police station.The accused has been arrested.SSP Swarandeep Singh said the girl’s body was recovered from the house of an army man who had asked the father of the boy to act as its caretaker.
The crime was committed late yesterday evening but the cops managed to locate the girl’s body today morning after a 14-hour search. The search was conducted at Joggowal Jattan and adjoining villages by a team led by SP (D) Harvinder Singh and comprising DSP (rural) Manjit Singh, DSP (control room) Raminder Singh and Dhariwal SHO Amandeep Singh Randhawa.”The boy allegedly lured the girl, a class 3 student, to his house and allegedly tried to rape her. When the girl resisted, he made her sit on a chair and tied her legs and hands with shoelaces. He then tried to find a piece of cloth with which he could have strangulated her. Failing to do so, the boy then took his mobile charger and slowly tightened its cord around the girl’s neck. The girl died of asphyxiation,” said the SSP.Last night, SHO Amandeep Randhawa received information that a girl had gone missing in Joggowal Jattan following which he informed the SSP. The SSP, in turn, tasked a team of senior officers with finding the girl.The team rummaged through agriculture fields and also searched nearby houses and deras.
